*Luth Wrestling Academy is independently operated and is not a program of Wesleyan University or Wesleyan Wrestling. Training sessions are held in the Biddiscombe Wrestling Room.
We specialize in providing focused, individualized, supplemental training in private lessons, small group sessions, and film review. Additionally, we offer one night of open-mat practice a week for wrestlers of all skill levels to have access to high-level coaching, and we will also begin running clinics on specific techniques and skill sets beginning in the Fall of 2026.

Our weekly open mat sessions offer guided instruction, additional mat time, and a low-stakes practice environment. All skill levels are welcome, must be 6th grade or older. Adults welcome.
Ryan Luth is the Associate Head Coach at Wesleyan University. Prior to arriving at Wesleyan, he spent one season as an assistant coach at Washington and Lee University, his alma mater. Across three seasons of collegiate coaching, Coach Luth has helped develop four NCAA Division III national qualifiers, two All-Americans, and more than 10 regional placewinners. He has also worked privately with multiple Connecticut state champions, New England placewinners, and high school All-Americans.
As a collegiate wrestler at Washington and Lee, Luth was a three-time All-American at 157 pounds, placing fifth nationally in 2023, fourth in 2022, and earning First-Team All-America honors in 2020. He was also a two-time regional champion and three-time conference champion. Luth finished his collegiate career with a 101–11 record and was named Washington and Lee's Athlete of the Year in both 2022 and 2023. He also received the Pres Brown Most Valuable Senior Male Athlete Award and was a three-time NWCA Academic All-American.
A 2018 graduate of Joseph A. Foran High School, Luth finished his high school career with a 220–19 record, setting the Connecticut high school record for career wins. He was a three-time NHSCA All-American, two-time New England Champion, two-time State Open Champion, two-time Class M Champion, and four-time Southern Connecticut Conference Champion. He was named the State Open Most Outstanding Wrestler in 2017 and Class M Most Outstanding Wrestler in 2018 and earned Scholar All-American honors in all four years of high school.
C.J. Luth is a Doctor of Physical Therapy specializing in orthopedic and sports medicine in private practice. He wrestled collegiately at the University of Southern Maine, where he compiled 117 career wins. He was a two-time Northeast Region placewinner, finishing fifth on two occasions, and was a four-time NWCA Scholar All-American.
In high school, Luth was a Connecticut State Open Champion, two-time Class M State Champion, and placed fourth at the New England High School Championships.
C.J. Shea was a two-time captain at Wesleyan University and a three-time NCAA Northeast Regional placewinner. He won the Northeast Region championship, was voted the tournament's Most Outstanding Wrestler, and went on to place seventh at the NCAA Division III Championships in 2025, earning All-America honors.
Shea was also a three-time NWCA Academic All-American and received Wesleyan University's Maynard Award, presented annually to the school's top senior men's and women's athletes. Prior to Wesleyan, Shea attended Greens Farms Academy, where he was a National Prep All-American as a senior.
Outside of wrestling, Shea owns and operates Sheascapes, a sustainable landscaping business.
